About
“I will sing of your love and justice; to you, LORD, I will sing praise.” ~Psalm 101:1
People have been singing to God for eons, back to when Moses rescued the people of Israel. Today, our lives are surrounded by music. We hear it on TV, radio, video games, and even in shopping malls. Sadly, for a lot of people, music is considered something in the background, something for ambiance.
Let’s challenge that notion! Let’s participate in music instead of just being entertained by it or having it simply to fill in the background of our lives.
Music is a gift from God and part of the created order. Everything in nature “sings.” Singing is a naturally uplifting thing to do. It makes you feel good and increases positivity. When you sing to God, your heart gets filled with so much love your chest actually feels like it expands.
Come join us on March 11 at 7PM as we sing praises to the Lord our God in the oldest standing building in Portland … the Old Church Concert Hall. InCity Worship proudly presents the musical talents of Lamont Williams, Brant Colella, and Alyssa Fitche.
The city of Philadelphia may be the City of Brotherly Love, but Portland is going to be the City of Worship. We are celebrating our differences, our connectedness and the interaction we all share on a daily basis by coming together and walking closer with Christ. We will be joined together for one cause … a sense of acceptance and belonging. Just because the miles may separate us physically doesn’t mean we can’t share the common bond and brotherhood that is created through music. And then, to lift that music up to God will only help cement those relationships. There is nothing better than fellowship in the Lord’s name
Let’s get real together and put any daily social programming behind us. Let’s step out of our fragmented culture, our hectic lives and take a breather. Together we can touch each other’s hearts and find the honesty in worshipping Christ that we’ve all developed an intuition to find. Together, we can all bridge the gaps in our faith. Let’s embrace the fact that we are free to come together and can let music play a vital role in the life of all of God’s people.
